Stephen J. Bartels, MD, MS is the Herman O West Professor of Geriatrics, Professor of Psychiatry, Professor of Community & Family Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, and Professor of Health Policy at the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. He is the Director of Dartmouth’s Centers For Health for Aging and Principal Investigator for the CDC Health Promotion Research Center at Dartmouth. He leads TDI’s program on Innovation, Implementation, and Improvement Science and and also directs a related new venture: The Collaboratory for Implementation Science at Dartmouth. Dr Bartels research focuses developing, testing, and implementing interventions focused on the intersection between physical and mental disorders including health care management, health coaching, health promotion interventions for obesity in adults with mental disorders, integration of mental health and primary care, self-management, applied use of automated telehealth technology and mobile health for co-occurring physical and mental health disorders, community-based implementation research, and evidence-based models of integrated care. He has published over 300 articles, scientific abstracts, and book chapters and has grant funding from NIH, CDC, and HRSA.
