This is a dance party with food and beverages. No gifts. No speeches - just fun!
For court security purposes, please be sure to RSVP by July 18!
Be that Tune!
If you know Judge Cooke at all, you know that no party is complete without a theme. So, we have a theme: “Be That Tune!” What does this mean? How can one “be a tune?” Some folks will recall the old game show, “Name That Tune,” in which contestants tried to guess the name of a tune in three notes, six notes, and so on. The winner guessed the tune with the least possible notes played; hence, our theme for Judge Cooke’s retirement party, “Be That Tune.” This is fun for Judge Cooke, but a trial for family and friends. Please humor her.
You are invited to come in costume as the title of a song. You do not have to sing the song, you do not have to dance to the song – you must only embody the song. What does it mean to “embody a song?”
It means you may be very subtle, or you may be outrageous in becoming the song. If you are a poor sport, you can be “Paperback Writer” and . . . carry a paperback to the party.
Here are some songs you might like to embody:
Ghostbusters, Poison, Footloose, Venus, Burn, Lollipop, Maneater, Physical, Smooth, Witchcraft, Night and Day, The Lady is a Tramp, Mack the Knife, Blue Velvet, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Taxman, Paperback Writer
