This is a list of British television programmes. It does not include foreign-made imports. The BBC has stated that in order for a series in the United Kingdom to be classed as a 'series', it must conform to the following requirements: it must have at least 14 episodes per year; it must have been produced in the United Kingdom; and it must be aired on British television.
If a programme contains fewer than 14 episodes, it is considered to be a mini-series. Examples of such programmes include Sherlock, a British mini-series about the detective Sherlock Holmes.
