Current Status

In July 2015 and July 2016, the Thai Government requested the World Heritage Committee at its 39th and 40th sessions in Bonn, Germany and Istanbul, Turkey to consider the inscription of Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex (KKFC), while IUCN and the World Heritage Committee recognized the outstanding universal value of the site, in 2015, the committee decided to refer the nomination because of concerning on serious human rights violation toward Karen people in the Kaeng Krachan National Park. In 2016, the committee decided to refer the nomination again after received concern from Myanmar Government on unclear border demarcation between Thailand and Myanmar on the western site of Kaeng Krachan National Park.

Thai Government nominated Phu Phra Bat Historical Park in 2016, but decided to withdraw after received recommendation from ICOMOS to redraft the nomination dossier.
