The National Boxing Association (NBA) is a boxing sanctioning organization, awarding title belts to professional boxers competing in various weight classes. The NBA was established in May of 1984 in New York City and is currently based out of Tampa, Florida.[1] For the previous National Boxing Association, it is now known as the World Boxing Association[2].

History

The National Boxing Association was established in May of 1984 in New York City. Founder and initial president of the NBA, Irv Abramson, rebuilt the NBA name as it had been dormant since the 1960's, and established the groundwork for the growth of the NBA. Former champions include Roy Jones Jr.[3], Roberto Durán, Hector "Macho" Camacho[4], and Edner Cherry[5].

In 2018, Damon Gonzalez took over control of the National Boxing Association.
