Herbert Mendo Ssegujja (born 27 September 1983 in Mukono, Uganda[1]), better known by his stage name Teacher Mpamire is a Ugandan comedian, actor and high school teacher. He is most famous for mimicking the Ugandan president, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.[2]

His performances have seen him stage shows in Zambia,[3]Malawi[4] and other African countries.

In 2016, Teacher Mpamire was named "discovery of year" at the Africa Youth Awards held in Accra, Ghana.[5][6][7]

Early life and education

Ssegujja was born in Mukono, Uganda on 27 September 1983, started his education at Bbowa primary school from where he graduated to Bbowa secondary school. He later went to Greenlight high school in Namasuba, Zana.[1]

At Kyambogo University, Ssegujja studied for bachelor of arts in education. He eventually went to Makerere University where he studied drama.

Having been sponsored by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, he was admitted to the American Comedy Institute where he studied comedy performance and writing.[1]
