From the Manufacturer
This trap catches hundreds of species of common nuisance or filth flies. The trap is baited for the most prevalent species including house flies, false stable flies, blow flies, blue and green bottle flies, flesh flies, face flies and many others. The trap comes with a water-soluble pouch of powder attractant. When the jar is filled with warm water and the trap is placed outside, the attractant dissolves and activates quickly. Inside the RESCUE! Fly Trap is a pesticide-free bait that flies find irresistible. This attractant is comprised of food and feed additives combined with other safe or inert ingredients. The attractant dissolves and activates when water is added to the bag. Lured by the scent, flies enter the trap through the yellow top cap and drown in the water.

1Don't waste your money
By Michael L. Watson
I have a swarm of 200 fly's in the house. put this thing on the kitchen countertop and for the last 4 days watched the fly's land all around it and everywhere but on it. used it as directed, followed instructions, not one single fly carcass inside.

Don't waste your money! Unless you want to spread sugar water around the hole openings and fill it with something dead and rotten other than what it came with.

5Definitely works!
By Tori
I bought this not for use with the plastic fly trap, but to draw flies to my carnivorous plants. As such, I can't comment on the trap that is sold separately, only the ability of this stuff to draw flies. Within literally 3 seconds of pouring a little mixture near the plants, they were absolutely swarmed. They have been eating very well this week thanks to this fly attractant! House flies, gnats, and many other kinds of flying insects I can't name are strongly attracted to this stuff.

Update: it's been another 2 weeks and the plants are having a feast. Just the pictured plant has eaten 7!!! I love this stuff, and highly recommend it to any fellow carnivorous plant geeks.

(The plant is an FTS Flaming Lips Venus Flytrap from FlytrapStore.com, who I also highly recommend.)

5Smells bad, works great!
By Greg Hamm
Smells bad, works great. If you can't stand the smell or don't want to handle the container which will fill up with dead flies and maggots, then get a disposable one. I prefer to recycle and just hold my nose when I empty it. It says replace every 30 days. I have to refill every two weeks it catches so many flies! I liked it so much I bought a second one. One hangs on a tree, the other on the far edge of my deck. They should be placed so the wind doesn't blow the scent into the house. The fly population has been reduced to less than half in a month. We run a small kennel and have a lot of droppings to pick up. I put the dog waste bucket under the hanging trap and flies just dissapear! This is not for the squeamish though!
